Why Blown-In Is the Most Popular Choice

Blown-in insulation uses specialized equipment to distribute loose fill material — either fiberglass or cellulose — evenly across your attic floor. It conforms to irregular spaces, fills around pipes and wiring, and can be installed over existing insulation without removal in most cases.

Fiberglass vs. Cellulose

Fiberglass Blown-In

Made from recycled glass, fiberglass blown-in is lightweight, moisture-resistant and does not settle significantly over time. It is the most commonly used blown-in material in Oklahoma.

  • ✓ Moisture resistant
  • ✓ Non-combustible
  • ✓ Does not promote mold growth
  • ✓ Minimal settling over time

Cellulose Blown-In

Made from recycled paper treated with fire retardants, cellulose has a higher density and can provide slightly better air sealing. It is an eco-friendly option with excellent thermal performance.

  • ✓ Made from recycled content
  • ✓ Higher density air sealing
  • ✓ Excellent thermal performance
  • ✓ Good sound dampening

We will recommend the right material based on your attic conditions, existing insulation and budget.

What R-Value Do You Need?

The Department of Energy recommends R-38 to R-60 for attics in Oklahoma's climate zone. Most older Edmond and OKC homes fall well below this — meaning significant energy is escaping through the ceiling every single day.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does blown-in insulation installation take?
Most attic blown-in insulation jobs are completed in 4 to 8 hours. A typical single-story home can be done in a single day. We prepare the space, install the insulation and clean up before we leave.
Can blown-in insulation be added over existing insulation?
In most cases yes. As long as your existing insulation is dry and free of mold or pest contamination, we can blow new material directly on top to bring your attic up to the recommended R-value.
Does blown-in insulation settle over time?
All loose-fill insulation settles somewhat after installation. We account for this by installing to a higher initial depth. Fiberglass settles less than cellulose. We provide a settled R-value guarantee on our work.
What R-value is recommended for Oklahoma attics?
The Department of Energy recommends R-38 to R-60 for attics in Oklahoma. Most older homes have R-11 to R-19. We assess your current level and recommend how much to add to reach optimal performance.
Will blown-in insulation help with noise?
Yes. Dense blown-in insulation adds meaningful sound dampening, reducing noise from rain, wind and outdoor activity. It is a secondary benefit on top of the primary energy savings.
Do I need to leave my home during blown-in installation?
You do not need to leave. Our equipment stays in the attic or outside. There is minimal disruption to the rest of your home. We do recommend keeping pets away from the attic access point during the job.
