An LED bulb is supposed to be a “set it and forget it” purchase — pop it in and don’t think about it again for years. Loose Connections and Worn Sockets

Inside a socket, the little metal tab that contacts the base of the bulb can flatten out over years of use, so it no longer presses firmly against the bulb. A loose or corroded connection creates resistance, resistance creates heat, and heat both destroys bulbs and, at worst, scorches the socket. The same goes for loose wire connections behind the fixture.
